Cleveland, Texas....English Speaking
Trevor spent the past six weeks in Cleveland, Texas....a very small town of about 6,000 people. He was serving in an English ward with an English speaking companion (Elder Spencer from Utah). He was not sure why he was put in an English area, but it just so happens that there are a handful of Spanish Speaking families in the Ward who do not want to drive the distance to go to the Spanish Ward. So Trevor was able to connect with a few of those families. One family he was visiting and sharing a scripture with he felt like he should ask them if they were sealed, so he asked and it turns out the dad has been sealed befofre, but does not realize that a guy can be sealed to mulitple women while alive. I think he divorced his first wife, but it's a hug process to undo so he wasn't down to do the work. He was working with them to help them go through the process.
Trevor's companion was the District Leader, but because of some circumstances he was unable to lead distric council so Trevor did it. He taught about divine discontent and mirrored Nephi's life to show how to use the Savior's enabling grace. He thinks it went well.
There are four elder's in his apartment. They did some crazy stuff like juice onions and drink it, pour cold water on eachother in the shower and accidently break the back of a church chair! It is a slow and hard area and for the first time he got to see what it was like to be hated just because he was wearing a white shirt and tie. Most people will not look at them let alone wave back.
He only served in this area for six weeks then they closed it because there are not enough elders in teh mission anymore. With missionaries being able to return to their originally assigned areas now that more have gotten the Covid vaccine and countries are opening up they have lost alot. This week they lost 30 missionaries, but only got 17. Here are some pictures from his time in Cleveland:
