Double Date

Trevor was transferred three hours east of Lake Charles, LA to Spring, Texas on April 6th. He is companions with Elder Muhlestein who is the District Leader. His new area reminds him of Ladera and there are only two Spanish Elders and two Spanish Sisters in the district...he calls that a "double date" district haha! He had a feeling he'd get transferred which made him a bit sad because he will miss Nain's baptism. However he kept a great attitude and is enjoying his new area and Elder Muhlestein. Elder Muhlestein started his mission in Honduras and was reassgined to due COVID. He is a big guy, but has lost a lot of weight (300 pounds to 220 pounds). He is from Spanish Fork and is a country boy. His first text to me was "Not going to lie this area is kinda popping. The last missionaries to be in this area were kinda lazy, but Elder Muhlestein is down to grind so it's way lit. We've gotten three new people to teach this week. We are also teaching a family of eight that's super solid! We have a bunch of yellows no ones ever visited so we've been knowcking on their doors and he's liked pumped at the end of the day, he says its the most like Honduras he's ever felt while in Texas." The area is not as slow as "Ladera". The Latino's are more humble. Most have migrated from the California/Mexico boarder illegally and settled in this area. There are about 60 members in their ward. The ward members feed them dinner almost every night! The general occupation is selling Herbalife. Everyone sells it and talks about weight loss all the time. On Saturday they did a ward service project mulching peoples yard as part of a youth fundraiser. It was very hard work! The investigator family of eight were there serving along side them. The back of his neck got super sunburnt and his hands and arms were black from the mulch. It left him more sore than any 6:30 a.m. workout! Plus before the service project they played ultimate frisbee so his legs, arms and body were pretty stiff on Sunday. It is starting to heat up in Texas. It has always been humid, but with the tempurature rising the bugs are starting to come out. He has been biten three times so far with one of the bites on the side of his forehead! When asked about some of the food stops this was his response... I've been to Bucees. There is only one in the mission and it's in Baytown so we went when we had to drive to Kingwood to pick up Elder Rivera we also stopped there on our way home. He hasn't been to HEB and isn't sure if he will because no one beats Walmarts prices! He says HEB is over rated just like everything else in Texas. Whataburger is such a fail and Torchy tacos is way over rated! I'm not going there again! It is so expensive and everything is like average at best. One taco is $7! Lastly he thinks he has grown. Almost all his pants are too short and there is an English Elder in his house who is 6'1" and Trevor is taller than him. He lives in a house with his companion and two English Elders.
